The design of residential projects (be it a single house or development) is a key area, as our most direct relationship with buildings is with our homes!
Our day to day experiences and a great amount of our spare time is shared within the privacy of our own homes which say a lot about us as people and should be an expression of our individuality. This is where bda is able to turn your ideas into reality.
Whether the complete design of an individual home or the scheming of a brand new residential development, we have continued to develop ideas about the environment and how individual people may enjoy their immediate surroundings (their homes). We are able to design for totally contemporary style homes or the more traditional style - you decide!

education

Some of the most rewarding work we have carried out as been for schools. With the designing of schools or even when just extending the schools current area, there is an opportunity to create a small scale, protected environment which is a subtle background for the teaching process and at the same time an opportunity to stimulate the minds of the pupils.
We feel that the way in which the designer approaches the design is fundamental to the success of the school, as a good design creates a good working environment.

health care

There tends to be a strong link between health and habitable environments. The combination of bda experience and clients who know what they want, helps create a place that promotes good health and an environment that generates a feeling of well being.
Designing for the healthcare sector can often be a complex task, but bda is well equipped to deal with the challenge, as a number of our staff have a sound knowledge and background of designing medical facilities for various NHS Trusts. Many different needs have to be considered when designing public facilities such as medical buildings, for example the DDA (Disabled Discrimination Act) needs to be fully addressed when preparing schemes. All bda staff attend regular seminars covering design for the disabled. We have a number of access auditors upon whom we can call should the need arise.

leisure

The number of facilities that are available for the community (leisure facilities), has grown steadily over a number of years and now represents a large economic sector.

When designing for the community a need for design flare is an important factor and we at bda feel that we can offer this, and are able to create an area that is not only an enjoyable space of recreation but also one of high quality design. Key staff within the practice have designed a number of bars, nightclubs, sports facilities, restaurants etc.
We have an extensive knowledge of the licensing laws and has even acquired the title of being the first practice to obtain change of use from a church to A3 licensed premises!
